Fr. Steven is planning a neighborhood Block Party around the end of September as a way of meeting and greeting the neighbors of the Parish and helping build good community relations.  He’s thinking about a cook-out in the lower school yard with a bouncy-house, some music from talented parishioners, etc.  He has asked the Knights for some help in two categories: (a) helping organize the event, and (b) some manpower at the event, probably setting up tables and chairs, grilling or serving food, staffing a booth, etc.

Organizer.  We need one guy to help organize.  Fr. Steven has two other parishioners from the Spanish and Brazilian communities he is asking, but would like a Knight to round out the organization committee.  You would need to meet 3-4 times with the others; relay information back to the Council; schedule Knights to help out in various areas; etc.  It’s only a 60-day commitment.  You will have some help from your faithful Grand Knight.

Worker bees.  We should try to provide 5-6 guys on the day of the event to help set up, grill, serve, etc.  It will only be a 3-4 hour commitment.  There will probably be a free hamburger in it for you, too.

The exact date has not been set yet, probably September 23rd or 28th.  When the date has been set, I will post a sign-up sheet on the kofcmarlboro.org website.

This is an event which will generate good visibility for us and possibly a positive recruitment opportunity.
