Keep St. Paul’s Parish in Blackstone warm next winter!
St. Paul’s Parish in Blackstone is a small but vibrant parish which has suffered some challenging financial difficulties in the past few years. Their boiler blew up last fall, and unable to fund the repairs, the parishioners sustained the winter wearing heavy coats during Masses with no heat in the building. Now that’s a dedicated bunch of parishioners!
Their beloved pastor, Fr. Tim O’Mara, is the Friar of the McSweeney Fourth Degree Assembly, and also well loved by his brother Knights. He’s been seen riding his Harley with a black leather jacket with the K of C emblem on the back and the inscription “Knights on Bikes.”
He related once how the state line of Rhode Island and Massachusetts actually runs through the middle of his church, sometimes requiring separate permits from Smithfield, RI and Blackstone, MA for plumbing or electrical repairs, and tradesmen licensed in both states! Rather than borrow, his parish is committed to raising the money for a new boiler on their own.
