Activities and News Since Last Meeting
· St. Michael’s Prayer and Adoration
In response to SatanCon – the Satanic Worship convention which took place at the Boston Marriott Back Bay, Fr. Ren asked us to help mobilize for prayer. We responded with an online Rosary for the three days of the convention, which was well attended. Thanks to Rich Kearns for leading. We also set up our website for sign-up sheets for the Eucharistic Adoration time slots, and distributed news and information, including downloadable prayer cards, etc. Finally, we also turned out in good numbers during the Eucharistic Adoration over the same three days. Thanks to all who participated.
· Outreach
The outreach we received from the Social Worker at Newton Wellesley Hopsital was passed along to the St. Vincent dePaul Society and both the I.C. and St. Matthias groups met with him and established an agenda of things they can do. I will be helping out with some research into his court records to see if we can reduce his liability for fines and court costs. Thanks to our SVdP brothers and sisters for partnering with us on this project.
· First Concern
On May 4th First Concern had its official Grand Opening, ribbon-cutting ceremony and blessing of the Ultrasound machine. Mike Wells and I attended and were graciously treated for our assistance and generosity. Fr. Steven Clemence blessed the machine and the event was well attended. Our excess fund raising paid for a beautiful bathroom connected to the Ultrasound Suite. The director Megan Paradis reported that procedures in the first six months of operation were sluggish but in the first three months of this year, are up to over 10 per month. From now on, I expect we will see a growing demand for their second tier of service – support for new mothers with things like baby clothes, diapers, formula, car seats, etc. So please keep that mission in mind if you have serviceable items to donate.
· Membership Award
For the second year running, Council #81 was awarded a plaque at the State Convention in Hyannis for achieving 125% of new membership goals.

· Prayers / Intentions:
Mike Gibson’s mother Leslie flew to Florida to visit Mike’s sister for Easter and wound up in a hospital. She had bypass surgery over the weekend, and is likely to be stuck in Florida until July with recovery and rehab. Please remember her, and Mike’s family, in your prayers.
Mike Bleecker’s brother in law Don died in Florida two weeks ago. Mike and his wife Susan left for Florida and I haven’t heard if they are back yet. Please keep Don and his family in your prayers.
If you have an item to add to the next meeting agenda, please let me know.
