Council #81 member to be ordained a permanent deacon.
Past Grand Knight, Richard Kearns, a long-time member of Council #81, will be ordained a Permanent Deacon by Archbishop Richard Henning on September 12th at the Cathedral of the Holy Cross at 10:00am.

Rich is a faith-filled parishoner of Immaculate Conception Parish in Marlborough, and has been a longtime member of historic Council #81, including completing his term as Past Grand Knight and Trustee. Rich has significantly contributed to the KofC over the years, especially to Council #81 which has been serving the community in Marlborough for 133 years. During the Covid pandemic, Rich visited many parishoners and KofC members’ homes, standing in their driveway in the rain and snow, delivering the Eucharist when Mass was not an option.
Richard was also part of the original team to serve and help the patients at the former Worcester State Hospital, bringing joy and hope to their daily lives in times of hardship. This, and many other achievements in Richard’s history with the Order, have established a solid foundation for his next steps into his faith-journey.
Rich will be a wonderful addition to the Deaconate, and wherever the Archdiocese sends him on assignment, his background and commitment to the KofC will benefit his new role as Deacon in the Church.
Council #81 has supported Richard throughout his journey for the past several years of his formation, and we will continue to express our thoughts and prayers to Rich and to his wonderful family during this beautiful faith-filled journey he is about to embark upon.
